This book series is the “Tiger’s Curse” by Colleen Houck. The series is fantasy-romance, and it is about a girl, Kelsey, who helps two brothers break a curse that has turned the brothers into tigers. Throughout the series, Colleen Houck draws from Indian mythology, stories from the Hindu religion. In the first book, she meets one of the tigers at a circus, and they end up traveling to India and traveling through different mythological realms to collect items needed to break the curse. They travel through Kishkinda which is related to the ruins of Hampi, India. In the second book, she works with his brother through Sangri-La to obtain the second object, and in the third, the three of them journey together across the ocean meeting five dragons from Chinese culture.
I chose to create book covers for the first three books in the series using a highly illustrative style. The first book cover shows the main character and tiger she meets. I depicted the girl and tiger reading together, since this is significant to their relationship. I included the lotus flower, a significant symbol, and monkeys which relate to their adventure. The second book cover shows the girl and second tiger sitting in the world tree, and it includes feathers and bats, elements of their journey. The third book shows her with both tigers. In this book, the three of them travel together across the sea where they encounter the dragons.
